It was exciting to hear the approving applause from the congregation after Rod Blackwood announced on Sunday that Broadway and LCU are giving Wes Crawford a sabbatical to work on his dissertation. Rod also asked the church to be patient during this time as different people do the preaching. Keep Wes in your prayers. He would much rather be preaching than doing what he will be doing.
The church Christmas party was fun. It was exciting to see all the people enjoying one another’s company. We certainly found out which staff members you would want to wrap your Christmas presents and which staff members you would not want to do that. The children’s and adult choruses were great. Thanks to Amy Cary, Margo Blake, Ruth Garner, Ashley Stegemoller, and Amy Dawson for putting the children’s chorus together and to Philip Jones for his work with the adult chorus. Glynn Morgan did his usual great down-home style of serving as the Master of Ceremonies. Thanks to Michelle Hammond and her crew for organizing, cooking, and decorating the tables.
Work began this week on the handicap ramp. So, those of you who are used to going down the south hallway into the auditorium foyer will be inconvenienced for a couple of months.
If you missed it Sunday, the church honored Tracey Horne for her 20 years of work in the church office.
Be sure and read the article by David Pounds on the number of college students Christ in Action served by opening their doors around the clock during finals weeks.
