ACTIVITY INFORMATION

ROLES AND JOB DESCRIPTION

(1) Ministry Leader

One to two men to help coordinate the leadership of various tasks in the men's ministry. Responsibility would be to recruit, encourage and oversee the leadership of the various sub-ministries listed below. Much freedom is allowed in how to coordinate the activities with emphasis being placed on involving and overseeing people in the ministry and not on doing the task themselves. Focus would be on involving as many men as possible in the described sub-ministries.

Budget work is also needed.

Time commitment = Weekly or monthly oversight meetings. Desired length of commitment is two years with the last six months of the second year as a time of training the new ministry leader.

(2) Men's Prayer Breakfast

One or two men to coordinate and communicate a monthly prayer breakfast. This job involves coordinating with the church facility manager, announcing prayer breakfasts at appropriate times, and arranging for inspirational speakers from time to time.

One or two men to help in the meal arrangements (cater or cook), money collection, clean up, etc.

Time commitment = One day per month in the actual prayer breakfast. One day per month in preparation. Commitment for one year.

(3) Men's Retreat

One or two men to coordinate and communicate the annual men's retreat.

One to two men to organize and schedule the speakers and topics, as well as song leaders for the men's retreat.

Several men to volunteer to help in each of the above areas of activity.

Time commitment = One weekend per year actual retreat. Prior preparation.

(4) Good Samaritan Project (handy-man projects for shut-ins, elderly, etc.)

One or two men to coordinate, collect and dispatch needs and work assignments in appropriate areas and to keep a list of volunteers and be a contact person between the needy and the ministry personnel. One man will be required to carry a voice pager for a few months at a time to facilitate the workings of the ministry.

We need: Carpenters, plumbers, yard people, mechanics, small engine repairs, etc.

Time commitment = When the need arises... On call at any time?

Financial commitment = Usually none, but some repairs may cost! Significant costs will either be paid by the person in need, or by the Men's Ministry budget, if available.

(5) Timothy Club (Class series for boys ages 9-12)

Eight to ten men as:

Teachers for this class on a once monthly basis

Financial commitment = Usually none, but some field trips or special cases may arise

(6) Men's Bible Studies (Desired)

One or two men to organize time, place, teacher, and promotion of a weekly, biweekly, or monthly men's bible study and encouragement time

One or two men to create and maintain an internet web site which will serve as an interactive newsletter for the men of our congregation. The web site will be both informational and inspirational. Duties would include posting all announcements, and recruiting men to write articles.

(2) Telephone Ministry

People to call shut-ins on a weekly or bi-monthly basis to cheer them up, make them feel wanted, needed, and important. Would also pick up on unspoken needs of individuals that could be passed on to other appropriate ministries

Time commitment = 1-2 hrs a week, one week per month

(3) Home Visit Ministry

Individuals to make home visits to shut-ins. Shut-ins are divided into 3 categories and visits should vary according to category.

-1- occasionally comes to church but goes to grocery store and medical appointments

-2-. rarely comes to church and rarely leaves home or place of residence

-3- resides in a nursing home or extended care facility and is unaware of surroundings or what is occurring in their lives

Time commitment = 2-4 hrs one week per month

(4) Special Occasions Ministry

Individuals to help shut-ins celebrate special times in their lives such as birthday, anniversary, and other special times by providing them with small gifts and/or flowers.

Time commitment = 1-3 hrs two or three times a year

Financial commitment = None, except as wanted. Flowers, etc. provided through church budget.

(5) Communion

Individuals to take and serve communion to the shut-ins

Talents = Care and concern for the sick

(2) Team Member

People to be responsible for visiting those in the hospitals on a weekly basis. Recognizing any needs and try to assist the family in meeting these needs. Always checking with the nurse before the visit. Becoming familiar with the patient and praying with them is priority. Leaving a contact number of someone with the church.

Time commitment = One week per month for one year

(3) Hospitality Servants

People to be available to offer hospitality to patients and their families such as host families in your home, bring snacks, launder clothes, etc.

Time commitment = On an as needed basis.

(4) Sitters

People to be available to sit with very ill patients when needed.

Men willing to (on a substitute basis) lead an assembly, including leading the singing and practicing with the praise team. Requires interview and audition, the ability to read music and quickly learn new music.

Time commitment = 12 months, 1 hour per week

(13) Worship Service Planner

Individuals willing to meet on a weekly basis to plan and organize each element of the Sunday AM assembly.

Time commitment = 1 hr per week

(14) Worship Steering Committee

Individuals who will meet with worship ministry coordinator once per quarter to evaluate Sunday AM assemblies and make decisions concerning assemblies for the future

Greeting

Mission: To give a warm, Christian greeting to the Broadway family and visitors.

ROLES AND JOB DESCRIPTION

(1) Welcome to Worship

Sixteen people to arrive 15 minutes early and greet people as they enter for worship. These people are also desired to be present at the main entrances after worship to attempt to recognize and meet visitors.

Time commitment = One week per month

Gifts = Exhortation, Pastor

Talents = Greeting

(2) Ushering and Worship Bulletins

Twelve people each week to stand at the doors of the main auditorium and hand out worship bulletins as well as ushering in people when needed.

Time commitment = One week per month

Gifts = Service

(3) Communion help

Several people to help with offering the communion to the people in the balcony and to some in the main auditorium

Time commitment = One week per month

(1) Benevolence Representative - Broadway & Carpenter's Church Members

Someone to respond to needs as they arise among Broadway and Carpenter's Church members. Meet with members as a representative to give referrals, counseling, or funds, as needed.

Time commitment = 3 hours, one day per week

(2) Benevolence Representative - Central Lubbock Church of Christ

People to work, as needed, at Central Lubbock Church of Christ to receive and refer needy people to sources of help.

Time commitment = 3 hours, one Sunday per month

(3) Resource Pantry Personnel

People to organize collections of Diapers, formula, finger foods, sleeping bags, etc. Also organize the pantry for relief services to people in need.

Time commitment = Your choice
