Dear Friends & Family,
We wanted to send a note to let you know that
we are all alive and well. The last few weeks have been very
full and rewarding for many. Here is a brief update.
LCU STUDENTS VISIT
Jim Beck arrived on May 25th with six of his
missions students from LCU. They stayed busy right up until the
time when most of them returned home on June 18th. They got a small
taste of what mission work is like in the city (Nairobi and Mombasa)
as well as in the rural areas,(Malindi, Kilifi, Kaloleni, etc.).
They were able to survey Kwale and Taita districts here in the Coast
Province. These are possible target areas for new mission teams.
CLASS ON REVELATION
While Beck was here we made him teach a one
week block course on the book of Revelation. He did a great job.
We had 13 in the English classes and around 40 in the Kiswahili
classes. At our night sessions he taught lessons in Kigiriama on the
subject of "leadership".
19 BAPTISMS REPORTED
During the last few months there has been a
total of 19 baptisms reported in 4 different congregations. We
praise God for the good things happening.
CAR TROUBLE AGAIN
We had to have a complete overhaul done on
our land cruiser a few weeks ago. One of the pistons broke a few
days before all of our guests came. Not having a car forced us
to take public transport in Mombasa and to Malindi. I don't
think that they were used to squeezing so many people into a few
seats, but they adjusted well and got a look at what "real
life" is like for Kenyans who don't own their own car. It
certainly made me appreciate my blessings.
HOME NEWS
We are all healthy. Our girls are
nearing completion of their school year. They will finish on
July 2nd. Rebecca has been busy teaching weekly women's Bible
study and working hard on the PTA of the girls school. We are
loving life and appreciating all of the prayers and support that are
given on our behalf. We are planning a short home visit this
year from mid November to early January.
God bless you all.
As ever,
Tim Talley
