Renewal on the Mountain
     We just returned last Thursday from a trip upcountry.  We spent several days in the capital city of Nairobi doing business stuff, relaxing and shopping before going to Meru, Kenya to camp on the edge of Mt. Kenya for three days.  We camped with several other missionary families including the Swifts and Moudys from Kilifi.  Then on Saturday, August 14th, my family, along with 13 others of our large group, went on to made the climb up Mt. Kenya.  Abigail at age 7 was too young for this trip and remained in Meru with friends.  Very early Monday morning we reached the 16,300 ft peak of Point Lenana in time to see the sunrise.  It truly was an awesome sight.  That same day we walked the 20 miles all the way back out to the park gate where our cars were parked.  Exhausting, but very rewarding.  We made a lasting family memory.  It was also quite a bonding time with our Kilifi teammates.  We were all happy to be back to our hot and humid coastal weather.

Prayer Requests

• I am teaching a block course this next week in Malindi on 1st Corinthians.
• My work permit is up for renewal. We are not expecting any problem, but every renewal time is one of slight tension, knowing that refusals are possible.
• Brittney Mckinney will arrive this week to begin her work with us in women's ministry and adult literacy.  Please pray for her as she settles back into life in Kenya.
• Please pray specifically for the Changamwe Church of Christ here in Mombasa.  They are undergoing some ugly leadership struggles and many people have become very discouraged by the fighting.
