______________
Graduation Speech:
I
don't remember when my vocation as doctor starts. I just remember that
my father picked up beggars and sick people from the streets two or
three times. He cleaned them and provided them shelter and food. He
brought them to t he
doctor to be cured and then he returned them to the streets with a
job. My mother brought peasants, who were members of the church to the
doctor.
I lived with two cousins for 6
years in our house. Other members of the family living with us were 10
children and their mother. They all were relatives of my mother. She
took them in because
the father was murdered by terrorists. I couldn't understand why I
should help people. I didn't like it because I just liked clothes and
toys, things that I didn't have at home because I had to share
everything; such as clothes, food and also toys.
All
of my birthdays were boring, because I had to travel to ENBOC, I was
always angry. I never had a birthday cake, instead there was cold
weather, rain and people to help. My parents were happy helping people
and teaching God's word.
It was difficult for me to
understand--to feed the starving; to provide drink to the thirsty; to
give shelter to the ones that do not have a house or clothes--to all
those that need it. (I just complained once, then I started thinking
about sharing things and helping people.)
Later,
I could understand when I came here to study because I was hungry,
sick and had lots of needs. Therefore, I learned the importance of
helping people and understood the phrases: the world goes round and
round; any harm you do will come to you, don't spit at the sky because
it will fall down on you.
Then I learned that I have to
help people without wanting any reward.
Now that I am just in the first
stage of the long profession, of medical doctor, that I chose, it is
time to thank God who has always helped me.
I want to thank my parents
because they always advised me well and sometimes even yelled at me to
make me think clearly.
Thank you to Class #7 and the
congregation of Broadway for their spiritual and material support.
This success is for my parents
and all those members that hope I can help them to cure their
illnesses.
I ask God to help me achieve all
my goals and also I ask you to pray for me so I can become God's
servant, who is going to help people.
I don't know you all, but I hope
to meet you one day and give you a warm hug if God permits me.
Thank you very much.
God is Kind!
AMEN!
